How you respond matters more than any single answer. A few simple habits keep maths calm and friendly.
Keep visits short. One challenge is plenty. Your child can stop after any activity and come back another day. Hold the phone upright: the app stays upright on phones because the layout of a sum matters.
Take breaks. The house button in a challenge offers a break, and the app suggests one after a while. If your child is tired or upset, stop, even if the app has not asked. Completed work is always saved.
Praise effort. Notice the trying: "You kept going with that one!" When your child is stuck, stay calm and say, "That's one to come back to."
Pip cheers them on. Pip is your child's friendly companion. Pip never gives answers, so what your child shows is their own work.
No comparing. Every child moves at their own pace. Please don't compare them with brothers, sisters or friends.
By the way…
Stay curious rather than correcting. "What did you notice?" and "Show me how you did it" tell you far more than a single answer.
