How It Works

Four steps. No guesswork.

1

Find their level

The app starts by working out where your child is on their maths journey, so practice begins in exactly the right place.

2

Practise the right maths

Children receive targeted practice based on what they already know and what they need next.

3

Get friendly support

Built-in prompts and guidance help children keep going without it becoming discouraging.

4

See progress clearly

Parents can see what their child can do, where support would help, and how regularly they are using the app.

Why Big Maths Beat That! is different

Most maths apps don't recognise or adjust to your child! They work from age or generic categories of learner, not from what your child actually knows.

Big Maths Beat That! is built to do both. Before anything else, your child goes on a Baseline Adventure that works out where they actually are. From there, practice is always pitched at what comes next for them specifically.

If a skill turns out to be tricky, the app doesn't just throw harder questions or move on. It goes back to gentler Stepping Stones first, rebuilding the foundation underneath the tricky skill, so your child returns to the same challenge knowing the ground beneath them is firm. And when even that isn't enough, the app is honest about it. It stops and says: this is a moment that needs a grown-up, not more software.

All the way through, you see the same Progress Tree your child sees. You know what they can do today. You know where you can help. You know what comes next.

It's the Big Maths approach that teachers in primary schools around the world already use, shaped for home.

For Parents, Not Just Pupils

This app is designed to help parents feel more informed and less in the dark. Instead of wondering whether your child is practising the right things, you can see where they are, how they are doing, and how to support them.

  • Understand what your child can do right now
  • See where they need more practice or support
  • Know how regularly they are using the app
  • Help them with clearer, friendlier guidance
