Family Voice

A familiar voice makes a celebration extra special. Family Voice lets you record a short message that Pip plays to your child at special moments. It is optional.

Who can do this: parents and carers.

  1. Open Family Voice. Sign in at bigmaths.website and select Record messages in the Family Voice section of your dashboard.

  2. Choose the moment and the child. Pick the moment you want to record for and the child who should hear it. For most moments you can listen to Pip's usual message for ideas. "Practice finished" and "welcome back" play only a message you record, so if you do not record one, your child hears nothing at those moments.

  3. Record and listen. Allow the microphone and record a message of up to 10 seconds. A countdown shows the time left, and recording stops by itself at 10 seconds. Play it back, and record again as often as you like.

  4. Save. Select Save. Your recording appears beside that child and moment, where you can play, replace or remove it later.

  5. Use it for another child (optional). If you have more than one child, select Use for another child beside a recording and tick the children who should hear it too. If a child already has a message for that moment, the new one replaces it. Each recording shows which other children use it, for example "Also used for Ben".

  6. Hear it in the app. New messages arrive on your child's device the next time the app is opened online. After that they play at the special moments, offline too.

Only share messages that don't use a name or compare children, so each child hears something that is right for them.

By the way…

There is no script to get right. A few warm words from someone your child knows, such as "Well done, I'm so proud of you!", are perfect.
