Big Maths Beat That! gives your pupils practice in their basic skills alongside your teaching. It also shows you who may need a hand.
Who can do this: teachers with a school account.
Set up your school account. Register at bigmaths.website/teachers/signup, verify your email and choose a plan.
Add pupils. Select Add Learner for each new pupil, up to 30. Pupils you add get a Door on your class devices.
Pupils who already use Big Maths at home. Ask the family for a linking code and select Enter a code. A linked pupil counts towards your 30 and is marked Linked. You see their progress on the website, but they get no Door on your class devices; they keep using the app at home. See Sharing a child with a tutor or school.
Set up each class device. Sign in to the app on the device once, while online, with your own account. Then tick the pupils who use that device. Only their Doors show there until you sign out, so younger children find their own Door quickly.
The Baseline Assessment. Each pupil taps their own Door to open their Glade. At first only the Learn Its totem shows, and it starts the Baseline Assessment. Seat pupils apart during it, so every answer is their own. Many pupils start below their school year; that is common, and it is where success begins.
Follow the class. Class Progress shows a flower count of mastered skills and who is still waiting to do the Baseline Assessment. Select a name to manage that pupil. Keep Class Progress to yourself: never show it to the class or use it as a league.
Plans. A pupil's page says "Covered by your subscription until …" when your school's plan covers them. It never shows a family's plan.
Sharing and removing. Generate linking code and Generate transfer code share or hand over a pupil you set up. Remove from class stops covering the pupil on your plan. Delete from my account takes them out of your account; a linked family keeps them. What happens next is explained in Sharing a child with a tutor or school.
By the way…
The teacher pupil page is for managing the class. For a pupil's detailed progress, work with their parent or tutor, who can see Your child's page.
