Sharing a child with a tutor or school

Parents, tutors and schools can all help the same child. These rules decide which account looks after the child and who can see their progress.

One account looks after each child. It is usually the family's. A tutor or school who set the child up looks after them until they hand the child over. Only the account that looks after the child can share or hand them over. The child's Door appears only on the devices where that account signs in.

Linking shares a child. The account that looks after the child makes a linking code on the child's page at bigmaths.website. The other adult enters it with Enter a code. Both adults can then see the child's progress on the website. Nothing moves. The Door stays on the looking-after account's devices, and the other adult never gets a Door for that child.

Transferring hands a child over. A transfer code moves the child, with all their learning, to the other adult's account. The child then leaves the account that made the code. Use this when a tutor or school has set up a child for a family.

Removing access. On the website, a family can remove a tutor's or school's access to their child at any time. The child's learning stays with the family.

When a tutor or school deletes a child. If a tutor or school deletes a child, or their whole account, the child moves to a linked family. If no family is linked, the child is held for 29 days and then permanently deleted.

When you delete your own account. Deleting an adult account is different. It has a 28-day cooling-off, and you can cancel at any time before the end. After 28 days, everything is permanently deleted.

By the way…

Codes last 30 days and work once. Share them only with the adult who needs them.
